Curtis Lundy

Curtis Leon Lundy is an accomplished bassist of the younger generation of artists who are carrying on the jazz tradition. A disciplined technician from Miami, Florida, Mr. Lundy began his musical career in the All Miami Youth Jazz Band. At the University of Miami he was classically trained under the tutelage of renowned bassist Dr. Lucas Drew. He has also studied privately with Cecil . McBee, Linda McKnight, Rufus Reid, Jaco Pastoriu and Ron Carter.

Lundy’s remarkable sense of jazz time allows him to play the most difficult of all jazz songs for musicians. From the start of Lundy’s professional career to the present time he has performed with an impressive list of musical wizards, including: ART BLAKEY, PHAROAH SAUNDERS, FREDDIE HUBBARD, JON FADDIS, HILTON RUIZ, EDDIE “”LOCK.JAW” DAVIS, PHYLLIS HYMAN, WYNTON AND BRANFORD MARSALIS, LIONEL HAMPTON, BETTY CARTER, SONNY STITT, JOHN HICKS, WOODY SHAW, JOE HENDERSON, SONNY FORTUNE, DIZZY GILLESPIE, JOHNNY HARTMAN, PHINEAS NEWBORN, BOBBY WATSON, BOBBY HUTCHERSON and many others.

Numerous well received musical engagements have taken Lundy on tours throughout Western and Eastern Europe, South American, Japan, the West Indies, Africa, as well as, every major city in North America.

Curtis has performed and collaborated with Max Roach in the award winning play GBE Suicide in B6 (flat) by Sam Shephard.

Also two other plays by Sam Sheppard “Angel City” and “Back Bog Beast Bait” and Ain’t Mis’ Behavin – Fats Waller musical.

Mr. Lundy is currently working with the internationally know acapella ARC Gospel Choir, in the capacity of Business Manager and Choir Director.
